What is Combination Skin?
Well if you find your face oily in some areas like the T-zone but dry in others, then you’ve a combination skin!
How to identify if you’ve a Combination Skin?
If you’re not sure if your skin type is combination or not, then look for some signs that can help you identify this.
For example, if you’ve got visible pores on and around your nose, you notice oiliness in some but not all parts of your face around twenty minutes after washing it, you get dry patches and breakouts at the same time, the flakiness on your face stays within the T-zone, a normal skin moisturizer makes your cheeks feel amazing but make your T-zone oily and your T-zone’s state depends on the weather, then you, dear friends, have a combination skin!
How to Care for Combination Skin?
What you need is the perfect combination of skincare hacks from both skin types that can work magic on your combination skin!
Drink Lots and Lots of Water
Your skin needs to remain hydrated to maintain that soft, supple and glowing look. When you don’t drink enough water, you’ll notice that your skin starts to look dull, dry, flaky and wrinkly.
A good concentration of your skin cells is water, thus making water an important part for its optimal functioning. Unfortunately, you lose a lot of water in our day-to-day activities. And you need to replace this loss by drinking increasing amounts of it.
An ideal intake would be around eight glasses of water everyday. This will restore life to your skin, making it look more radiant that before.
Protect Your Skin with a Sunscreen
The UV rays from the sun can be really harmful for your skin. It can cause early-aging symptoms, making your skin lose its natural elasticity.
Protect your skin from these harmful rays with a high SPF sunscreen. Go for a water-based sunscreen with a fluid consistency as that wouldn’t suffocate our skin. Ideally a sunscreen with minimum SPF-15 should do the trick.
Blot Away the Oily Areas
Combination skin is a constant struggle between oily and normal skin. You can’t really incline towards products or regimen for one skin-type, because your skin can’t deal with it.
For example, you’re probably always stressing over your oily T-zone. That’s where oil-blotting sheets can come in real handy! So anytime you feel like your T-zone is getting oily, just pop out an oil-blotting sheet and blot away the oil from your face!
Use Tea Tree Oil for Blemishes & Dry Patches
Aren’t those occasional and unexpected breakouts a total bummer? Oh, the struggles of a combination skin
To battle these uncalled for pimples and zits, always keep a tea tree oil in hand. Just use a q-tip to dab the oil onto the spot and watch the magic happen in a few days!
Another hack for you – for those dry patches on your face that make your makeup or foundation look cakey, just use the tea tree oil over the dry area before you apply the makeup product. The oil will even out the dryness and create an even canvas for the following cosmetics.
Go for Water-Based & Gentle Skincare Products
You don’t want to use any harsh skincare products on your skin. Combination skin can be quite sensitive and strong products can trigger a reaction on it.
Instead, choose skincare products that are gentle on the skin. Water-based products (both skincare and beauty) are particularly good for combination skin. The thin and fluid consistency of aqua-based products allows your skin to breathe whilst the product works its magic on it!
Keeping your skin in the best possible shape is a full-time job. It can be hard, but with the right products and regimen, you can achieve that youthful and radiant-looking skin! All you’ve to do is try and keep trying!
