Weather in Karachi to Get Colder After Today

Brace yourself Karachites, the winter is expected to get more intense after today.

Light rain was recorded today in the metropolis in different parts of the city in areas such as University road and Gulshan due to which the weather dropped lower than usual.

Karachi’s temperature fell to 9 degrees Celsius, which is the lowest recorded of the current winter season.

Pakistan’s Meteorological Department (PMD) Director, Sardar Sarfaraz, said on Monday that the weather is expected to remain cold in the following days due to the “Western winds” entering to Balochistan from Iran from January 3, with which is likely to bring rain to both Balochistan and Sindh, he added.

According to the Met Office, snowfall and light rains are expected in parts of Malakand Division and G-B. Due to which, in Northern Sindh and outskirts of Punjab, foggy weather in the early hours is expected to occur as well.

The current winter weather has been going strong as the New Year started. With record breaking temperatures taking place in various cities of the country. Peshawar recorded its lowest temperature, -1 degree Celsius, which broke a record of 36 years whereas Skardu also reached a ruthless -21 degree Celsius.

With the ongoing winter peak, the winter break for schools and colleges has been extended and the schools are now expected to be reopened on the 7th of January.
