Oman’s New Sultan Receives Dignitaries

World leaders traveled all the way to Oman on Sunday to meet the country’s new Sultan after the death of the Oman’s longtime ruler Sultan Qaboos Bin Said. Prince Charles and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson arrived in Muscat to meet Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq Al Said.

Other leaders included Sheih Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Kuwait’s ruling emir and Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar’s ruling emir. Even Bahrain’s King, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and the president of Yemen also visited. Iran’s foreign minister also traveled to meet him.

Before being named as the successor to Sultan Qaboos who was the longest ruling monarch and died at the age of 79 years, Sultan Haitham was Oman’s culture minister.

Sultan Haitham who is 66 is promoting peace and dialogue in the Mideast just like Sultan Qaboos.
