Government Plans to Reduce Hajj Cost by Rs.60,000

There are chances that the federal government will reduce Hajj expenses by Rs.60,000 when the Hajj package gets introduced.

The Minister for Religious Affairs, Noor ul Haq Qadri will present the proposal’s draft to the federal cabinet for approval according to the official source. The proposal requests to lower the Hajj expenses by Rs.50,000 to Rs.60,000. Even with this, the Hajj package will be more expensive than that of 2019.

Once this gets approved, the ministry for religious affairs will announce 2020’s Hajj policy. The federal cabinet is expected to meet on Tuesday with the Prime Minister, Imran Khan and a number or problems will be discussed including reduction of prices for essential commodities, reduction in Hajj package and a probe against artificial inflation. The Hajj package this year was expected to cost Rs.115,000 more than last year due to rupee depreciaion and airfare hike as per Upper House.

The Senate Committee was also informed that this year, approximately 179,000 people will perform Hajj under the government’s scheme.
