Restaurant Style Chicken Steaks with Gravy

If you’re a steak snob, you will never accept a chicken ‘steak’ but hear us out on this one – the marinade for the chicken is so phenomenal that it can work just as well on chicken, beef, or fish even!

Chicken Steaks with Gravy and Caramelized Onions

Ingredients

For the Steaks

  • 10 pieces Chicken Breast flattened
  • 5 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 10 tbsp Steak Sauce
  • 5 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 1/2 tsp Mustard
  • 2 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • 2 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 1/2 tsp Salt

For the Carmelized Onions

  • 4 medium Onions sliced
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

Gravy

  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 medium Onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 1/2 tsp White Pepper
  • 1 cup Chicken Stock
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 medium Onion sliced
  • 4 pieces Mushrooms

Instructions

Prepare Your Steaks

  • Mix your marinade ingredients together and let your steaks rest for at least 30 min to an hour.
  • Grill your steaks in olive oil until nice and golden.

Prepare Your Caramelized Onions

  • Melt the butter and oil together, Add your onions and stir on low heat until they start to go soft.
  • Add your brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce and keep turning from time to time so the onions don't burn. This will take about 10-15 minutes.

Prepare Your Gravy

  • Add your butter with oil to a pan over low heat. Add chopped onions and brown them just a little bit.
  • Add flour, white pepper, salt, and chicken stock and mix until the gravy comes together and becomes slightly thicker.
  • Stir in brown sugar and mushrooms and mix until incorporated.
