New Zealand Reports being Free of COVID-19 as Last Known Patient Recovers 0 124

The Health Ministry of New Zealand has announced that New Zealand can move to Alert Level 1 from Monday as the last case of COVID-19 successfully recovers.

New Zealand’s Health Ministry implemented a highly effective and rigid lockdown compared to other countries in the world. The lockdown took place on the 25th of March and as of now the country successfully tackled the novel disease within two months. The last active case reported was on the 22nd of May.

Auckland ‘s Federal Public Health Minister of Health was informed that the last known patient was for 48 hours symptom-free and is believed to have been healed. The individual had also been released from isolation.

Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern in a statement said, “While we’re in a safer, stronger position, there’s still no easy path back to pre-Covid life, but the determination and focus we have had on our health response will now be vested in our economic rebuild.”

The Government’s use one of a kind digital technology to curb the spread of disease. The made use of an app called the NZ COVID Tracer App, it helps track people suspected to have COVID-19 symptoms. The app recorded 522,000 registrations.

The Health Ministry continues to urge citizens in New Zealand to download and use the application. The digital diary helps to identify and isolate the potential contacts of the infected person swiftly and efficiently in the event of future cases or outbreaks.
