Neymar Jr. Tests Positive for Covid-19
The 28-year-old PSG and Brazil star footballer, Neymar Jr. tests positive for Covid-19 along with his Argentinian teammates Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes, according to reports.
Di Maria, Paredes, along with Neymar, were among the players who flew to Ibiza after the final of the Champions League, interacting with friends and families after spending the previous weeks isolated with teammates in Portugal.
Neymar is one of three Paris Saint-Germain stars who contracted the coronavirus, a well-placed source told AFP Wednesday after multiple positive tests were confirmed by runners-up from the Champions League.
“Three players from Paris Saint-Germain have reported positive Sars CoV2 tests and are subject to the required procedure on fitness,” PSG said in a statement.
“All of the players and coaching staff will continue to undergo tests in the coming days,” they further added.
The news is a blow to the French champions’ plans for next week’s planned launch of their Ligue 1 season, with a game away at Lens expected for September 10 but now likely to be postponed.
