The only way your toes are protected is through your toe nails. Toenails are basically made up of a protein called keratin which makes up your skin, fingernails and hair as well. With Keratin, you’re able to lead a healthy life However, there are instances where physical activity, friction and even sweat causes a few complications that also include ingrown toenails.

There was a time when such problems would’ve easily been ignored but today nails are more than just nails, they’re an accessory. With that, nail issues can never be gone unnoticed.

Home Remedies to Get Rid of Ingrown Nails

1. Use Soapy Water

Soaking your feet in warm, soapy water actually works wonders. And if your soap is anti-bacterial, it works even better. Epsom salts and soap salts added to warm water are also a good idea!

2. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Having antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, apple cider vinegar is a great product for ingrown toenails. All you need to do is soak your foot in warm water with 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar for almost 20 minutes daily.

3. Use Dental Floss and Cotton

You can also try tucking in small bits of cotton or dental floss under the edge of the toenail that’s growing inwards. This will help it grow in the right direction and will also prevent bacteria from getting in, But, if you feel any pain, just take it off and consult a doctor.

4. Get a Pedicure Kit

Get yourself a pedicure kit and try doing it at home every now and then if you think spending a lot of money on spa visits can be a little too much. This way, you’ll maintain hygiene for your feet and the cleaner they are, the better it will be.

If nothing seems to work, the best thing to do is consult a physician or a dermatologist who will actually give you medicated solutions.
