Face Mapping is the key to getting to know your face break better. The location of your breakout can reveal lots about why you’re getting it in the first place. Of course, this doesn’t eliminate the many other reasons that could be the cause. After all, acne prone skin can be quite complicated to understand.

Let’s dive deeper into this science, shall we?

Why’re you breaking out in the same spot?

You can get acne in the same place again and again due to certain behaviors. For example, sitting with your chin-in-hand or your phone touching your face too often, applying makeup on that area on a daily basis, and so on.

Another habit that can really aggravate the pimple is picking or squeezing your zits. This also causes recurring breakouts in the affected area because the pimple’s infection may spread to other areas before healing.

The recurrence can also happen because there might still be inflammation deep own in the skin. Due to this, that particular inflamed area remains vulnerable to acne-triggers like stress, hormones, diet, local irritants, etc.

Chin and Jawline Breakouts

If pimples seem to be popping up on your chin, jawline and lower cheek, then there’s probably a hormonal pattern behind it. Acne in these particular areas is usually caused because of skin’s oil glands reacting to the hormonal responses. The hormonal responses can be triggered by factors like stress, eating excessive dairy or sugar, or because of hormonal fluctuations that occur in response to women’s menstrual cycles. Another reason for women could be the condition Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) that causes hormonal imbalance.

Breakouts on the Neck

Similar to getting acne on your chin and jawline, breakouts on your neck are also related to hormonal changes and your skin’s oil glands reacting to them.

Nose Acne and Blackheads on Nose

Small clogged pores that turn black due to trapped oil and skin cells exposed to air are called blackheads. Nose is perhaps the most common place to get blackheads because there’s a high concentration of oil glands in your skin around the nose.

Breakout on Cheeks

Cheeks are one of the more common places where most people seem to breakout the most. The reasons for this can be many – bacteria or friction from the pillow, holding your phone against the cheek while speaking on call, wearing too much makeup on that area on a daily basis and so on.

Forehead Pimples

Too often, the cause behind forehead pimples are hair products, shampoos and conditioners. So if you’re breaking out on your forehead, you might want to check your hair care products for ingredient that can clog pores. These ingredients could be sodium laureth sulfate, sodium lauryl sulfate and coconut oil (aka cocos nucifera oil).

Another cause for this could be pityrosporum. This is a type of fungus and is, in fact, a very regular guest on our skin. But if it’s excessive then it could be related to seborrheic dermatitis, or dandruff, if you will. And dandruff doesn’t just happen on your scalp, it can happen on your face too!

Acne Around the Mouth

For this, you should check your toothpaste for sodium lauryl sulfate and/or sodium laureth sulfate. So when your skin comes into contact with the toothpaste, it starts to react and break out. Some people might also be irritated by whitening agents and fluoride. And, if you’re getting pimples around your lips, then try switching to SLS-free and fluoride-free toothpaste for a few months.

We hope that you found this article useful to understand your particular case of acne better. Once you figure this out, you’re already set on the road to better, more beautiful and glowing skin!
