The Google Pixel series has been a controversial saga filled with design, quality and functionality. Every Pixel phone announced by Google has a regular edition and an XL edition. And last year was no different with Google is offering high-end smartphones in two different sizes; the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. The real question arises when you’re considering a purchase, which one is worth spending money on, is the Pixel 3 XL better than the Pixel 3 or just a larger version? The Pixel 3 and 3XL share quite a lot of features. Both have identical internal specs, powered by a Snapdragon 845, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The cameras are the same too, including the dual front-facing shooters. Both have stereo speakers and both lack the headphones jack. The hardware is also the same in both the phones to a point that you wont be able to distinguish the phones if you see them separately in a picture.

Pixel 3 vs Pixel 3 XL – The Differences
The point of differentiation between the Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL is only the screen size and the battery. The Pixel 3 has a smaller screen size, about 5.5-inch OLED display, 2160×1080 resolution, while the Pixel 3 XL is a staggering 6.3-inch OLED display, 2960×1440 resolutions. The Pixel 3 XL also has a large notch that people find distracting and also cutting into possible usable space. The second noticeable difference is the battery capacity. The Pixel 3 has a 2915 mAh Li ion battery where as the Pixel 3 XL has gotten a 17% increase in the battery size; at 3430 mAh. A larger screen size compliments the battery size and it makes sense that the larger battery size is needed to support a larger display size. Pricing is another factor that points the difference between both the devices. The Pixel 3 is available in the market for 80,000 Pakistani Rupees, while the Pixel 3XL is priced at 130,000 Pakistani Rupees.

Pixel 3 vs Pixel 3 XL – Verdict?
Judging the devices on their points of parity and differences, i can sum up the Pixel 3XL as an elongated version of the Pixel 3. The specifications are the same besides features like screen size and battery, that’s literally it. Both the phones have the same type of screen, the same camera specifications, run on the same operating system and have the same chipsets, RAM, memory and looks. For me, the Pixel 3 takes the cake, but if you have big hands, the Pixel 3 XL will serve you ideally.
