HEC aims to Send 1500 Pakistani Students to US Under The US-Pakistan Knowledge Corridor
The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) plans to send 1500 Pakistani students to USA for the PhD programs in the US and conducted a meeting regarding this with the admission directors of nine universities in the US.
The US delegation also visited HEC and had a meeting with Dr. Fateh Marri who is the executive director of HEC along with other senior officers. They discussed possibilities of institutional agreements for admission and placement of scholars from Pakistan in US universities under the US-Pakistan knowledge corridor.
Dr.Marri tried convincing the Admission Directors to explore possibilities of institutional arrangements and asked them to let potential researchers secure admission and get placed in the universities in the US. This will increase better faculty in universities with high academic qualifications to improve the quality of education and research.
Dr.Marri also added that he has been negotiating agreements with some of the top US universities in order to achieve the targets of having 1500 Pakistani students placed in PhD programmes under the US-Pakistan Knowledge corridor. This has also helped in creating DOUs between HEC and the US universities.
A total of 70 male scholars and 29 female scholars have been awarded with scholarships and 87 students are on board with 12 other students in the pipeline.
