Iconic Pakistani TV Host and Actor, Tariq Aziz passes away at 84
Lahore: The loved by all and pioneer Pakistani television host, Tariq Aziz, passed away on Wednesday due to protracted illness at the age of 84.
He was also a well known actor, poet and politician who was an active member of the National Assembly in 1997 till 1999.
Tariq Aziz was born on April 28, 1936 in Jalandhar India. on April 28. He started his career on Radio Pakistan in the 1960s, and gained fame and recognition after starring as the host of Pakistan’s first ever game show, “Neelam Ghar”. The show was later renamed as “Tariq Aziz Show” and was Pakistan’s longest-running quiz and game show program.
In 1992, he was awarded the prestigious Pride of Performance Award by the government for his services to the entertainment industry
The prime minister also tweeted after hearing the news of the legendary actor’s passing. He tweeted:
Saddened to learn of the passing of Tariq Aziz, an icon in his time and a pioneer of our TV game shows. My condolences and prayers go to his family.
