Pakistan Hosts a Video Conference With SAARC Countries Over the COVID-19

On Thursday, Pakistan hosted a video conference with the Technical Committee on Health of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), to establish a shared policy against the coronavirus virus by which the whole world is struggling with

Pakistan proposed coordination among prominent specialists of SAARC with regards to battling the pandemic in the region which was suggested by Dr Zafar Mirza who is the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Affairs.

Representing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Government on Thursday, he said that the pastors and senior wellbeing authorities of the SAARC countries had talked about constant sharing of data and clinical information, limit building and preparing of clinical and paramedical staff, the stockpile of meds and clinical hardware, explore coordination and upgrading collaboration with forefront worldwide associations including the World Health Organization.

Dr. Mirza further added that South Asia was particularly vulnerable on account of its high population densities, fragile health systems and rudimentary disease surveillance because of which, it is imperative that the South Asian region work together and partake in the international best practices keeping the socio-economic conditions of the region.
