Plasma of Recovered Patients Being Used As An Experimental Cure For COVID-19

With the global crisis due to the ongoing Coronavirus affecting the whole world. With Europe being the most affected due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19, especially in Italy.

However, a glimmer of hope can is being sought in Italy.

According to news reports, the country is hoping to use the antibodies of patients who recovered from the COVID-19 for treatment of those who are still sick.

This is can be a sign of hope in curing the pandemic as historically and for decades many doctors have successfully use plasma to treat a virus. Many of which have been successful.

Baldanti, an Italian virologist at the University of Pavia San Matteo Hospital in Italy’s Lombardy region, hopes that the antibodies in plasma can be used to recover those who are severely affected by the virus. Lombardy region has reported the most deaths in Italy.

While the treatment is still at an experimental phase, Baldanti hopes for a positve result. He states, “this plasma treatment can be crucial for controlling the infection in patients admitted to intensive-care units.”
