Sindh Health Workers to Boycott OPD

On Wednesday, the Grand Health Alliance (GHA) announced that the OPDs in public hospitals were to be remain closed across the province from Thursday to Monday.

The doctors, nurses and paramedics have been protesting for the past three days, and have closed OPDs for a few hours. The GHA representatives later decided to carry out a complete boycott of OPDs from Thursday.

One of the protestors said, “We have been protesting for three days, but no government official has approached us.”

The GHA reps said that they’d given an ultimatum of three days to the government but now that the time to address their concerns had passed, they would be boycotting OPDs till 15th June. Bur the emergency wards, intensive care units, isolation wards and emergency operation theatres would stay functional. They also added that the government would be responsible for any losses that would result from the boycott.

They demand for a martyrs package for healthcare workers who’re losing their lives fighting the Covid-19 along with health risk allowances, and similar other demands.
