There will be a total of 12 teams competing in the tournament, 8 of which will be sent directly into the main tournament without needing to go through a qualifying tournament. 

The remaining 4 teams will be decided through a 1st round. A total of 8 teams will compete in this 1st round to secure their Super 12 round. 

ICC segregated these eight teams into Group A and Group B.

The top two teams of Group A and Group B will advance to the ICC T20 World Cup 2022’s super 12 round.
