4 Light Ramadan Dinner Ideas!

Its no secret that our routines are a little less than ideal during the month of Ramadan. If you’re someone who enjoys a hefty, indulgent iftar and then struggles to eat enough nourishing food between iftar and sehri, here are a few Ramadan dinner ideas that are both filling and light on the stomach!

Rice Dishes

Rice dishes like pulao and biryani are a great way to combine protein, carbs, and essential veggies without having to put multiple dishes on the table. You can minimize the amount of oil you use and increase the amount of protein or vegetables based on your preference.

Pair your rice with a refreshing mint or tamarind chutney and some raita and you’ve got a flavorful meal that isn’t heavy on your stomach and relatively easy to digest.

If you want to take a non-desi route with your rice, you could always experiment with vegetable, egg, or chicken fried rice and pair it with some lightly grilled chicken and veggies or even your favorite Chinese dishes. Just make sure to swap out grilling the chicken instead of frying it!

Some of our favorite noodle dishes are spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni and qeema, chicken or veggie chowmein.

Finally, an evergreen winner when it comes to Ramadan dinner ideas is a nice, tasteful sandwich. The best thing about this is that you can make it as heavy or light as you want.

Some of our favorite ideas are; egg salad sandwiches, chicken club sandwich, pulled chicken or pulled beef sandwich with coleslaw, tikka chunks and cheese sandwich, grilled cheese and tomato sandwich, kebab sandwich, roasted veggie sandwich, eggs and sausage breakfast sandwich.
