Dry skin is characterized by a lack of moisture compared to other skin types. This means your skin will often feel tight and rough, there will be dullness to your complexion, and often times you may have patches of peeling skin on your face.
Correct Ways to Deal with Dry Skin
Fortunately, dry skin can be combated by taking proper care of it with the right products and some necessary lifestyle changes. Here are a few tips to help you get started!
1) Water Intake
We’re pretty sure you’ve already heard someone or the other saying that drinking water is good for your skin. Well, they’re definitely right! Staying hydrated throughout the day means all your organs will be working in perfect harmony and all those nasty toxins will keep getting flushed. Drink almost 7-8 glasses of water daily to have beautiful-looking skin.
2) Use Rose Water as a Toner
Rose water has a pH level of 5.5 which is coincidentally a healthy pH level for your skin. If your skin is feeling tight or dry throughout the day, one or two quick spritzes of rose water will not only be refreshing but also give your skin some quick moisture. It is more effective to use in the nighttime skincare routine!
3) Use Sunscreen to Protect your Skin
No matter what skin type you have, one of the best tips anyone can give you is to always, always wear sunscreen. The sun is a primary source of skin damage, and sun spots, in addition to the obvious sub-burns. By wearing the right SPF (ideally 50 or over), you’ll be able to protect your skin from the harmful effects of sun rays. It is recommended to wear sunscreen after every 6 hours.
4) Alcohol-free Products
Products that contain a lot of harsh ingredients like fragrance and alcohol can be really bad for your skin. They end up stripping your skin of moisture even more rather than locking it in.
Choose to opt for creamy cleansers as opposed to foamy ones. Look out for ingredients such as aloe, shea, and cocoa which are nourishing for the skin and will help put moisture back in.
5) Good Moisturizer
An obvious measure to take for dry skin is to moisturize it properly. You should be moisturizing your skin AM and PM to keep it well hydrated. There are a number of moisturizers on the market from gel based to thicker creams. You’ll want to ideally find one that is specifically suited to dry skin.
6) Add Hyaluronic Serum to Your Routine
The hyaluronic serum is a great addition to your skin routine. These can also help a number of other concerns such as pigmentation, wrinkles, or itchiness. It also plumps your skin and makes it look even fresher!
If you have a beard, you can also look into a good beard oil to keep the hair from getting itchy and the skin under it nourished and hydrated.
